General Information about the install

Website document roots are always the same. /web/ /root/ /www/ or something of that nature.
You can ask your web host what the DocumentRoot is or you can use this nifty little php file. Upload it to your server and it will tell you what your DocumentRoot is relative to the directory that you're installing the website to. Example of a DocumentRoot /public_html/someusername/
A mysql database will be needed. Standard website hosting accounts come with cpanel, whm, ispconfig or any other hosting control. You can use these tools to create the mysql database. After you create the mysql database make sure you make note of the database name, database username and database password. After that you will need to find our the hostname for the mysql. Certain files need to be uploaded via certain FTP protocols (ASCII or Binary) (NOTE: Most modern ftp appilcations figure this out for you on the fly)
This HotorNot Website does not have a install script. It is VERY easy to install it without one. Just upload all the files. Import the database.sql into your newly setup database then change a few pieces of info and your all done.

WARNING: If you have never installed or configured a website or if you do not understand the terminology below, please do not attempt to install the website. Please contact us to install the site for you.

Database Creation Steps

Login to your hosting control panel ex: cpanel, whm, ispconfig or whatever your hosting uses.
Use the database creation tool to create one mySql database, name it whatever
Write down the database name, username and password
Get the mysql hostname, typical : Localhost. But it can be anything. You might have to ask your hosting company.

Open !Database.sql in "/uploads/!Database.sql" and do a find-and-replace in your text editor. Find the following http://www.yourdomain.com/ and replace it with your actual domain name WITH trailing slash(NOTE: Include the subfolders if you have any in the find and replace).
Import the database via phpMyAdmin or any other database editing/viewing tool your host company provides.

Keep all that information about the mysql database for the install process next.

Website Installation Instructions

Download your new website to your desktop via the link that was sent to you after you purchased the website on eBay.
Unzip all the files in the .zip file to your desktop.
Open your desired FTP application and connect to your web host. You would have received or set this up with your hosting company.

Open the file named config.php within the upload folder (/upload/config.php). You will need to edit fields within the config file.
Click here to see an example. You will need to edit all fields in red.You will also need to edit lines 49 and 50. Click here to see an example.
Upload everything within the "upload" folder that you unzipped to your desktop to your server. WARNING: Do not upload the actual folder named upload.
CHMOD 777 folders called /members/.
Now go to your website's domain and your website should fully function and work. If it does not, click here for troubleshooting.

Fixing your website

The website loads, but the images do not show up - You forgot to open database.sql and do a find-and-replace for http://www.yourdomain.com/members/
There could be many other things that went wrong if you missed something or you did something incorrectly as the demo site does. Just Contact Us or have us install it for you
